Q1. I would arrange for a daily video call, but also speak to Sarah and explain that it may not always be possible to have more than one call a day as there needs to be nursing care carried out with Theo. She also needs to rest and recover from her procedure, letting her know that the nurses are looking after Theo and that if there is any changes to report then this will be done straight away.
Q2. I would ask Sarah if I can enter her bed space, keeping the curtain closed. I would try and comfort her, offer support and reassure her. Put a plan in place to with her to manage her concerns better
Q3. Explain to Sarah that it would not be in her best interests to leave the hospital at the moment due to her current medication, post operative condition and health. Agree to have a chat with her and the ward manager about how you can facilitate more contact with Baby Theo to ensure they are bonding as much as possible.
