I agree with all the comments above. Even though is important and useful to know the reason why the patient is asking for a consultation, so you can prepare, as nurses we should always listen to the patient first. We need to understand the details of the problem and what influence is it having on the patient’s life and future implications. For example, the prolapse might have a negative impact on her marriage, leading to needing counselling or therapy. Or it might be difficult to care for the children due to the pain, so other help would be needed.
