Question 1- I would choose option 1 and I would validate Sarah’s concerns/feelings and explain to her I will contact the hospital as soon as I can due to the ward being so busy.
Question 2 – I would choose option 2. It is important to gain consent to enter the bedspace as it is respecting the patient’s privacy I would listen to her worries and try and offer some sort of reassurance.
Question 3 – I would choose option 2. I would inform Sarah that it is not in her best interest to discharge herself and I would remind her it is important she recovers well so then she can be there for her son Theo.
