1. I think Allie has been prescribed antibiotics for her chest infection. A chest infection is an infection of the lungs or large airways. Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial chest infections.
2. Allie must take care to use a good inhaler technique to prevent the medicine staying in her mouth and throat but rather going straight to her lungs. It is especially important now while she has a chest infection to take care to use her brown inhaler the right way to make sure the medicine is going straight to her lungs. As with all medicines there are possible side effects. Taking care to use her brown inhaler correctly will also prevent Allie developing a sore throat, horse voice or oral thrush.
3. Allie can cut the risk of her pet triggering her asthma by keeping her pet outside as much as possible, washing them regularly (someone else to do this if experiencing symptoms), washing pet’s bedding and toys regularly. Possibly an air filter may help. If Allie cannot avoid exposure, she should wash her hands regularly, clean and vacuum floors, curtains and upholstery regularly, ensure pets are kept out of bedrooms.
