Q1 – I would choose 1, because I understand how difficult Sarah’s condition of not to see her child Theo. She needs reassurance that her child is doing good and that the only way she could see her child is through video calls. She would be able to know Theo’s present condition, and she could ask directly to the nurse looking after Theo.
Q2 – I would choose 2, because in times of difficulties being away from your child will create worries and unsettling thoughts. I will listen, give support, allow her to express her feeling and act if what are needed to ease her worries such as giving reassurance or update about her child’s condition. Addressing her concern to the Nurse-in-charge in the ward to take note of her concerns.
Q3 – I would choose 2, because it is not safe for Sarah to leave in the hospital in her present condition. I will explain that she is currently taking medication and that her post-operative condition would be risky to discharge early as she is not fully recovered. I will give support to ease her worries and recommend that there are other ways to see her child by doing video calling and I could arrange that for her.
