Question 1 – I would do option 1. If the other hospital didnt have the capacity to facilitate a phone call, I would explain that it wasnt possible at this time, but i would try again later. I would also ensure i listen to sarahs concerns and offer her an alternative if facetime wasnt possible, for example calling for an update if she was very distressed.
Question 2 – I would do option 2 it is important Sarah is supported, and that she feels that she is able to express her emotions.
Question 3 – I would do option 2, explain to Sarah that it would not be in her best interests to leave the hospital at the moment due to her current medication, post-operative condition, and health. Agree to have a chat with her and the ward manager about how you can facilitate more contact with Baby Theo to ensure they are bonding as much as possible.
