In terms of tone I would try to be empathetic and supportive, but try to be factual and not create any panic or false hope. It would also be important to sound confident and assured to help Neema’s mother feel that her daughter is in good hands. I would try not to focus on the neck pain as immediately that may cause a panic about associations with paralysis, and would mention the neck-brace so that if Neema does permit her mother to visit, it won’t come us too big a shock when she first sees Neema.
